The OWL is a mesh specific sub-ohm tank, manufactured by Advken. Founded in 2013, Advken is a China based company that focuses their efforts on providing high quality and cutting edge devices to the vaping community. This is evident in their 30 strong line up but especially so in their latest product, the Advken OWL Mesh Sub-Ohm Tank. The unique aesthetic and strong materials used make for a reliable/sturdy sub-ohm tank.
The Advken Owl is 25mm’s in diameter by 45mm’s in height. Some may say its bulbous in appearance, but I personally think it looks fine on any decently sized dual box mod. In saying that, this does then limit the amount of devices you can put it on without causing a top heavy scenario. The standard glass can hold 3ml of ejuice or 4ml with the bubble glass. The tube is made from premium pyrex glass, which will help protect your glass from shattering if dropped.
The rest of the body is made from superior stainless steel and features subtle, but cool looking embellishments. The engineering is pretty good and the feel of the tank is of high quality. The modern sliding refill system is a neat idea but the non existent pressure air hole that usually accompanies this type of system, makes filling a hassle. You will need to very slowly squeeze your ejuice when filling. If not, the air pressure will build up inside your tank and your ejuice will spill out of the fill port.
The most important thing that the Advken OWL Mesh Sub-Ohm Tank gets right is the flavor. For a sub-ohm tank the flavor was very good. Don’t expect big clouds though as the airflow has to travel quite far before reaching the chimney. The domed construction and funneled delrin drip trip worked well together. It felt quite comfortable on my lips. The provided Advken mesh coils are a bit average but you can always chuck in some SMOK coils, which perform far better.
You can get your own Advken OWL Mesh Sub-Ohm Tank for $29.99 USD. It’s roughly the same price as similar devices currently on the market. It’s still relatively new, so I think the price will come down slightly if you want to wait a few months. Overall if you like the look of this sub-ohm tank, then I would recommend you pick one up. It functions well, produces good flavor and is compatible with other brands coils.
The packaging features its own logo and branding. I personally like when brands do this. The artwork is minimal and serves its purpose. Nothing too fancy to show off here. Inside you will find your Advken OWL Sub-Ohm Tank, a replacement glass, pre-installed 0.2ohm mesh coil, extra 0.16ohm mesh coil, accessory bag and cleaning cloth.
Weirdly they didn’t include an instruction manual. Since sub-ohm tanks are more so aimed at beginner vapers, I think its important to include some simple instructions. I also don’t think the cleaning cloth was necessary. The OWL will eventually be available in a variety of colors but for now you can choose between SS or matte black.
