The Augvape VTEC 1.8 is an engine inspired box mod that features a high power output, discreet fire button, and oil cap adjustment button. It builds upon the original v200 rendition that I unfortunately never had the pleasure of owning. What I do know is that the devices are very similar, but with some notable improvements. This includes a variable wattage mode, the ability to change the voltage output, and also a reinforced battery door.
Augvape was first established in 2013 and have a core focus on design, research, and development. They boast a huge back catalog of popular products that include the Druga RDA, VX200 Box Mod, and more recently the Merlin Nano RTA. If you were a fan of the previous version or are interested in the latest model, please keep reading for a full breakdown of the specs and also if I would recommend it or not.
The Augvape VTEC 1.8 Box Mod measures 87.5mm’s by 45mm’s by 29.2mm’s, weighs 165 grams and is made from a lightweight zinc alloy material. I’m pleased they have gone ahead and designed something a little bit different. If you weren’t aware the VTEC 1.8 is modeled on the Honda B18C engine. As a result, the box mod has a distinct look that I’m sure will impress any rev head or motor enthusiast.
It accommodates dual 18650 batteries that can output between 5 to 200 watts. This translates to 0.5 to 7.2 volts or 0.05 to 3.0 ohms. Augvape has boldly dropped temperature control from their suite of settings and instead stuck with bypass mode, variable voltage, auto mode, and V mode. I for one applaud this decision because it’s not something that I have ever been interested in using. Furthermore, I don’t know anyone that really uses it.
The Augvape VTEC 1.8 Box Mod allows you to conveniently screw down your atomizer straight away and start vaping ( in Auto mode ). The chipset is smart enough to detect the resistance of your coil and suggest an optimal wattage output. However, if you are after a bit more power, then Augvapes V mode is right up your alley. V mode offers a quicker ramp-up and firing speed. It’s like adding turbo into your car.
Augvape has thought long and hard about their user’s experience. The 0.96 inch OLED on the front face contains a hidden fire button. It’s noticeably clicky and very responsive. The oil cap potentiometer makes adjusting your wattage fun. The feedback was great and I found myself fiddling around with it from time to time. On the bottom is your reinforced battery door that is now much stronger and easier to use than the previous model.
So the Augvape VTEC 1.8 Box Mod is currently retailing for around $45 USD. This was the cheapest price I could find online. I think that’s a reasonable cost considering the quality, finish, and also unique look. From the first vape, I was in love and I’m sure you’ll feel this way as well. Make sure to pick one up quick as they have only manufactured a small quantity.
The VTEC 1.8 is available in 3 distinct colors that include black, blue, and red. There’s an odd leather strip detail on the back of the mod that kind of feels out of place. The packaging presents a nice car-themed design that ties everything together. Inside you will find your Augvape VTEC 1.8 Box Mod, USB charging cable, user manual, and also a warranty card.
