The Freemax MAXUS 50W Starter Kit is the latest flavor first box mod and sub-ohm tank combo to hit shelves in 2021. It features a 2000mAh rechargeable battery, leak-proof coil changes, and also a brand new range of mesh coils. The MAXUS 50W is the most recent addition to this well-received line that made headlines just 6 months ago. The MAXUS 100W Starter Kit and MAXUS 200W Starter Kit were both universally praised by the likes of Mike Vapes and Matt from SMM.

Freemax is a super popular vape manufacturer based in China. They were established in 2013 and are best known for their flavorsome tea fiber and organic cotton formula coils. Freemax is also a great innovator within the vape industry; being one of the first companies to release a mesh-based coil. As a result, Freemax boasts 20 million users worldwide and its products are stocked in over 100+ countries.

Freemax MAXUS 50W Box Mod with Fireluke 22 Sub-Ohm Tank Review

Box Mod

The Freemax MAXUS 50W Box Mod is slightly more compact than the 100W external battery edition. It measures just 79mm’s by 39.7mm’s by 26.4mm’s. The main chassis is made from durable zinc alloy and it features an identical pattern to the previous renditions. I’m not a huge fan of the design, but that’s just my personal opinion. Inside you have the MAXUS 1.0 Chipset which provides various stock standard protections like short-circuiting and overcharging.

The Freemax MAXUS 50W Box Mod contains an internal 2000mAh battery that can be recharged from flat to full in 80 minutes. Considering the size of the device, I think the battery size could have been better. Similar to the previous two models, it boasts an extensive temperature control suite. This includes VW, VPC, TC, TCR, and Bypass mode. It can output between 5 to 50 watts, 0.7 to 7.5 volts, 200 to 600 Fahrenheit, and is compatible with multiple wire types.

Freemax MAXUS 50 Watt DTL 2000mAh Vape Kit Review

The Freemax MAXUS 50W Box Mod can fit up to a 25mm atomizer on top with no overhang. The 510 platform is slightly raised so you may notice a small gap with certain atomizers. Battery venting is present on the bottom and the display screen is much more vivid this time around. The square adjustment buttons still feel a bit awkward, but the fire button is noticeably responsive.

Sub-Ohm Tank

The Fireluke 22 Sub-Ohm Tank measures 22mm’s in diameter and can hold 3.5ml of eliquid with the bubble glass installed. Strangely, no straight glass is included with the US edition. The childproof fill system is back and it’s still challenging to use. This is because the sliding top cap doesn’t allow enough room for a standard chubby gorilla drip tip to fit comfortably.

Freemax MAXUS 50W VW & 3.5ml Fireluke 22 Tank Review

The Fireluke 22 Sub-Ohm Tank features a MTL style 510 drip tip. Unfortunately, no MTL coils are included with the kit and have to be purchased separately. You can though get a MTL draw from the DTL coils by adjusting the airflow. The individual airflow holes allow you to really dial down your preferred airflow current. As you’d expect from any Freemax atomizer, the flavor is amazing! The coils are press-fit and you can even change them mid-tank.

The Freemax MAXUS 50W Starter Kit is available to buy right now. It’s retailing for $54.89 USD from the official Freemax online shop. I think that’s a reasonable asking price but would prefer it to come down by $5-$10 USD over time. Overall though, this is a solid starter kit for new vapers. Furthermore, I’d recommend checking it out if you’re all about great tasting flavor. Freemax is the king of flavor and has been for many years.

The Freemax MAXUS 50W Starter Kit comes in a variety of color combinations. This includes red/blue, yellow/red, yellow/green, and many more. As previously mentioned, I’m not a big fan of the design, but they do appear to be releasing some new flat color options that look pretty cool. The packaging is modern and well presented. Inside you’ll find your Freemax MAXUS 50W Box Mod, Fireluke 22 Sub-Ohm Tank, 2 x DTL coils, spare bubble glass, USB-C charging cable, and also a user manual.
