The MOK Athena Pod System Kit is a unique mascara shaped vaping device. It’s compact, lightweight, and also ergonomic. While a tad expensive in my honest opinion, it does provide a more sleek option for all the female vapers out there. The MOK Athena Pod System is so simple to use and conveniently requires very little previous vaping experience to operate.
MOK Eciga is a boutique China-based manufacturer that produces a small range of pen and pod devices. Their products do look very similar to existing vapes on the market, but with subtle differences. MOK may not be one of the bigger players on the scene, but they do release some decent stuff. I recently reviewed their Magic Stick Pod Kit, which rated relatively well.
The MOK Athena Pod System Kit is made up of three main parts. This includes a dustproof cap, open cartridge, and battery. The chassis is made from zinc alloy, while the mouthpiece is made from food-safe PCTG. The 650mAh battery can deliver a constant 10 to 16 watts. At the base, you’ll find an LED battery indicator light and MicroUSB port for charging. A full charge should take roughly 1 hour.
The MOK Athena Pod System Kit features an innovative connection between the battery and atomizer. Two 24kt gold plated pins interlock the sections together. These pins increase the overall conductivity and reduces the risk of an accidental short. The Athena Pod boasts a modern inhale to fire system. This means you don’t have to press any buttons or mess around with confusing settings. It pretty much does everything for you automatically.
I found the 2ml refillable cartridge to be comfortable on my lips. It delivered a smooth MTL draw that’s cool but saturated with average flavor. At the base is a small fill port sealed with a removable silicone plug. You can use standard freebase nicotine eliquid or NicSalt juice in the cartridge. Both perform great thanks to the low placement of the 1.5ohm coil inside the fairly tall air channel.
The coil appears to be ceramic and is wicked with regular organic cotton. The cartridge is shaded black and is also a bit hard to see through. This means you’ll need to be extra diligent or regularly hold the cartridge up to a light source to check your vape juice level. The pod comes with a handful of internal fail-safes that are designed to protect you and your device. This includes an 8 second cut off time and also short-circuiting protection.
You can buy the MOK Athena Kit online for around $40 USD. I think that’s pretty high for a kit of this kind. You could definitely find something cheaper, but it wouldn’t have the same shape. If you do like the form of this device, I would happily recommend you pick one up. Just make sure to shop around for the best price. Replacement pods can be found in a three-pack for $9 USD or so.
The MOK Athena Pod System Kit comes in a variety of colors that include red, orange, blue, black, white, pink, gold and also rose gold. The packaging is bold but slightly dated. Inside the sleeved box, you’ll find your Athena Pod. MOK branding is present on the battery section, which is just below the tasteful beauty ring. Included with the kit is a spare pod, MicroUSB charging cable, warranty card and also a user manual.
