The SMOK RPM 40 is the first real pod mod. It takes everything you love about a box mod and incorporates it within a portable pod device. The SMOK RPM 40 features a long-lasting battery, advanced chipset, huge eliquid capacity, and also fantastic coil options. This includes the well known 0.6 ohm NORD coil head and a brand new 0.4 ohm RPM coil head. Both being backwards compatible with their respective products.
SMOK has been dominating the pod market in 2019 with popular product releases like the Mico, Trinity Alpha, and Novo 2. As a result, its no surprise that SMOK have once again pushed the envelope and delivered something innovative. I’ve been hanging out for this particular product for a while. Keep reading for a full breakdown of the new SMOK RPM 40 and if I would recommend it or not.
The SMOK RPM 40 Pod Mod Kit is relatively small for what it can do, measuring just 99mm’s by 25mm’s by 25mm’s. The bulk of the zinc-alloy chassis is made up of a 1500 rechargeable mAh battery. I was able to get quite a few days battery out of the RPM before having to recharge. This is easily done via the Mirco USB slot and accompanying cable. This device can output between 1 and 40 watts, with a resistance range of 0.2 to 2.5 ohms.
The pre-installed IQ-R chipset allows you to adjust your wattage and screen color with a click of a button. The firing speed is lightening fast and clocks in at 0.001 seconds. It also features a bunch of important protections like low voltage, short-circuiting and maximum cut off time. All the information you need is beautifully displayed on the 0.96 inch TFT screen.
On top, you have a huge 4.5ml refillable cartridge that boasts an easy to use side-fill system. The filling hole is hidden behind a silicone stopper. It can easily accommodate a chubby gorilla tip or glass dripper. I’ll be honest, the mouthpiece isn’t the most comfortable, but it does allow more air inhalation. The SMOK RPM 40 provides some of the best flavor and clouds I have ever experienced!
On the bottom, you have your plug and play coils that have yet to leak on me. The friction fit triple o-ring seal appears to be doing a great job, and I feel confident leaving it in my pocket or bag. SMOK has mentioned that an RBA coil option for the RPM 40 is coming out soon. I feel this is more of a gimmick than a must-have. Overall I have been very pleased with this product.
The SMOK RPM 40 Pod Mod Kit is currently retailing for $37.95 USD. While slightly more expensive than most other pod devices, it’s relatively cheap compared to box mods. Taking that into account, the type of vaper that this product would appeal to is long time pod users and also vapers looking for a great alternative to contemporary box mods.
The SMOK RPM 40 Pod Mod Kit is available in a wide variety of colors that includes black, chrome, purple, gold, rainbow, white, orange, and also green. The designs aren’t that amazing, but good enough to flash in public. The packaging is very stereotypical for a SMOK product. Inside you will find your RPM 40, 2 x cartridge options, 2 x coils, Micro USB cable, and also a user manual.
