The SMOK RPM160 Pod Mod Kit is a next-gen hybrid device that boasts 160 watts of raw vaping power. It also features a huge eliquid capacity and the ability to DIY with an RDTA cartridge. One thing that surprised me about this vape was just how manageable it was. Considering its size, the RPM160 is considerably light and compact. It does though share similarities with the Artery Nugget GT 200W Pod Mod. Keep reading to find out how it compares.
SMOK is a well-respected vape manufacturer based out of Shenzhen, China. They used to primarily develop cloud bellowing sub-ohm tanks and box mods. But, in more recent years have shifted to producing a lot of pod-based systems. This includes the very popular Nord 2 and Fetch Mini. Pods are great for new and old vapers alike. I personally loved these products and can’t wait to see what SMOK comes up with next.
The RPM160 Pod Mod is a robust vape contained within a portable form. The body is noticeably thinner and taller in comparison to similar devices. It measures 125mm’s by 45mm’s by 28.2mm’s and weighs just 120 grams. The main chassis is made from a lightweight zinc-alloy material which unfortunately feels a bit like cheap plastic. This makes it pocket friendly, but not overly durable.
The RPM160 Pod Mod takes dual 18650 batteries and can output an impressive 160 watts. This is a touch shy of the Nugget GT which can output 200 watts. But who really needs that much power really? The IQ-160 chipset boasts a lightning-fast firing speed of 0.001 seconds and can intelligently auto-detect the perfect wattage for your coils. It also does a fantastic job of optimizing your battery life. I was able to get a full week off a single charge.
The front face features a large responsive firing button and individual adjustment buttons. The 0.96″ inch TFT display screen doesn’t have the best layout or color scheme in my personal opinion. But it’s still relatively easy to navigate. Furthermore, the battery percentages were also a bit hard to see from a glance. The battery door is located on the bottom and is hinged. It works a treat and is rather sturdy.
On top, is your eliquid cartridge. It can hold a whopping 7.5ml of juice! Furthermore, you can conveniently fill it without taking anything apart. The press-fit 0.15ohm NiCr mesh coils are a breeze to install but don’t seal very well. I experinced a decent amount of leaking throughout the course of testing. The flavor was ok but could be so much better with one of the two massive airflow slots covered. A quick fix for this might be a Vaporesso style plug.
The SMOK RPM160 Pod Mod Kit is currently available for pre-order. The best price I could find online was $38.99 USD from Vapesourcing. Make sure to use our exclusive 12% off coupon code ‘WWM12’ at checkout. I think this is a great asking price. If you’d like to take full advantage of all 160 watts this device has to offer, make sure to also check out the RDTA cartridge. It’s sold separately and makes the kit so much more versatile.
The SMOK RPM160 Pod Mod Kit comes in a variety of faux carbon fiber colors that include rainbow, black, blue, gold, red, and also silver. It’s very similar to the pattern used for the SMOK Novo. In my personal opinion, this particular sticker is a bit tacky. The packaging on the other hand is modern and aesthetically pleasing. Inside you’ll find your RPM160 Pod Mod, cartridge, 2 x coils, MicroUSB charging cable, and also a user manual.
