Today I’m reviewing the Tesla Punk 220W TC Box Mod. This product was released in late 2017 by Teslacigs. They are a Chinese manufacturer that were founded in 2013. Teslacigs are well known for creating unique vape mods and atomizers. They prioritize research and innovation above all else, so to better serve their ever expanding customer base.
The Punk weighs in at a heafty 200 grams and measures 56 mm x 30 mm x 86 mm. It features an ergonomic yet solid construction that feels fantastic in hand. The Punk uses a proprietary board designed by Teslacigs. It’s the same board used in the WYE 200W Box Mod, but with a few tweaks. It’s capable of outputting 220 watts of power and a temperature range of 200 to 600 degrees Fahrenheit.
The minimum resistance is .1 ohms in power mode and .05 ohms in TC mode. The Punk boasts a full temperature control suite and can support all your standard material types like Ni, Ti, and SS. The TCR function can come in handy for those of you that like to use custom wire.
You can modify the three preheat settings as desired from soft to medium to hard. They work well and I have found myself using this function a lot. I’m not a big wattage curve guy but the Punk also has this function that works well, but is only available in power mode.
The menu system is extremely simple and intuitive. You can literally sit down with this mod for 2 minutes and figure everything out without an instruction booklet.
Since this product is a few years old now, you may have a hard time finding it at your local vape shop. Some online vendors though still stock it and you can expect to pay around $69 USD or $92 AUD. I’d happily pay double that and still appreciate the value for money this product offers. It feels and vapes like a high end piece of equipment.
The packaging style is very Tesla. The beautiful white box features an embossed pattern behind the steampunk product image on the front. Inside you will find your Tesla Punk 220W TC Box Mod neatly sitting in a secure foam insert. Under that you will find your paperwork and USB cable.
The mod itself is just gorgeous. This is especially true if your into the whole steampunk thing. It’s available in black, bronze, copper, and silver. It’s an absolute gorgeous device! I love the small details they have included like the transparent side panels, gearing and piping. The exposed battery tube is also a neat addition.
If you put a brightly colored battery in there, you’ll be able to see it behind the gears when the mod lights up. Now, I’m normally not a light show type of guy when it comes to my mod. This may be the only mod that I actually run, with the lights on. The reason being, the lights are very subtle.
I think Tesla did a bang-up job on the overall look of this mod. Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about it.
