If you’re just starting out with vaping, you may not know how to steep vape juice. This is fine. We were all new once, so hopefully, these 5 tips on how to steep vape juice will help you. In this article, we will go over some essential things you should learn including how to do it and where to buy pre-steeped ejuice, among other useful topics.
The word ‘steeping’ is pretty common within the vaping community. You may have seen it written online or heard it in conversation. It’s important to learn what is steeping to get the most out of your eliquid. Some ejuices may also require breathing to remove any chemical after taste.
You can use the analogy of making tea as a good example. If you don’t let your tea bag soak long enough in the hot water you will have minimal flavor as a result. Wait too long and it can get very strong and unpleasant.
Vape Juice is made up of 4 important ingredients including flavoring, PG, VG, and nicotine. Each ingredient needs time to bind together, which is what steeping is good for. With time, your eliquids flavor profile can change depending on how long you leave it to age.
Some ejuices don’t need to be steeped, others need a very long time before becoming vapeable. The important thing here is that you know what steeping is. This is because it can potentially save a new eliquid you have purchased.
2. How To Steep Vape Juice?
Bear in mind, steeping your vape juice is an art. There are no hard and fast rules for steeping. As a rough guide, if no pre steeping has occurred you should do the following. Take your eliquid out of its box or packaging and give it a good shake. Once shaken, open your bottle up for a few seconds of air. Close the bottle and place it in a dark place to mature. That’s really all there is to it.
The only challenge left now is how long to wait. We usually recommend that you leave more complex dessert flavors to steep for the longest ( 2 – 4 weeks ). The opposite applies to fruit flavors as they usually require the least amount of time to steep ( 1 – 7 days ). In the middle, you have your tobacco flavors which hover around ( 1 – 4 weeks ), depending on the vape juice flavor and manufacturer. It doesn’t matter if you have a 10ml or 120ml vape juice, they will both steep at the same rate.
3. Can You Buy Pre Steeped Vape Juice?
Pre steeped vape juice is available on the market, you just need to know where to find it. Small vape juice brands and some vape shops offer this fantastic service but don’t expect everyone to do so. It’s best to check their website as most will usually list it.
Now let’s say you’re totally out of ejuice, you need to hit that vape and you don’t want to wait 4 weeks to steep your eliquid. In this case, I would personally prefer to vape on an eliquid that hasn’t been steeped versus fast-forwarding the aging process.
If that’s not true for you, then follow these steps. Get yourself a ziplock bag and put your eliquid bottle in it. Fill a bowl with hot water from the tap. Place your bagged eliquid in the hot water and anchor it down with something. Once the hot water returns to room temperature, remove it from the bag and give it a shake. Open up the cap and test. Repeat this until you are satisfied.
5. What Does Breathing Ejuice Do?
If your ejuice taste’s like perfume, I would recommend letting it breathe. Also please note this process is totally different from steeping. Essentially you will take the bottle cap off and not put it back on again for no longer than 12 hours.
This allows your ejuice to oxidize, hence removing alcohol and other chemical components from your vape juice. Some downsides of breathing your eliquid include the possibility of muting your flavor, reducing the strength of your nicotine, and also the potential risk of foreign contamination ie. fly, ants, dust etc.
