The Wismec Luxotic NC 250W Starter Kit is a fancy, but affordable device. It’s a semi-regulated mod that has a switch on the top to change between parallel and series mode. The mod itself is powered by dual 20700 batteries or 18650’s with the provided adapter sleeves. The PWM chip installed will simulate the voltage you have set.
In series mode, the voltage range is from 1v to 8v. When you change the switch to parallel mode, the voltage is based on your batteries. You may hear a noticeable buzzing sound from the device when firing. This is perfectly normal and is just the chip doing its thing. You’ll be happy to hear that the Wismec Luxotic comes with some safety features including protection against short circuiting your device. When dealing with an unregulated mod, please remember to follow ohm’s law.
The starter kit comes with the Guillotine V2 RDA which is also versatile, in that it can be switched between bottom or top airflow. The Guillotine RDA also looks damn good. Head to toe brushed metal to suit the rest of the mod. You of course get a matching 810 drip tip, which I appreciated. The inside of the cap looks to be made from PEI. A stainless steel ring is also included for your RDA to sit in. This will help protect your mod from scratches and looks nice.
The flavor produced by the Guillotine V2 RDA was pretty good. The deck was tricky to build on though. It is a dual coil RDA with a clamp style deck. You will need to unscrew two screws on each post and sort of jiggle the deck upside down to open the space for your coils.
Your looking at paying $59.95 USD or $99 AUD for the starter kit. I think this is a bargain for a fantastic mod and RDA combination.
The packaging was fairly simple. Nothing too flash here as the kit speaks for itself. Inside you will find the Wismec Luxotic NC Mod, Guillotine V2 RDA, an extended 810 drip tip, two Clapton 0.28 ohm coils, two 18650 battery sleeve adapters, some no name brand cotton and your usual spare parts.
The main focus here is the Luxotic NC mod itself, that comes in two resin skin variations, which are green and red. Furthermore the rest of the body is made from high quality brushed aluminum. This excludes the plastic fire button, voltage dial and also the switch which are made from plastic.
The mod itself feels great in hand and is relatively lightweight. The only small issue I had was that one side of the mod had its resin raised in a curved manner. Hence I did some research online and it seems to have been done on purpose by Wismec. I feel like this cheapens the overall look slightly.
