The MANIK is Wotofo’s first entry into the pod mod market. It boasts an external battery, high power output, and also some very flavorsome coils. 2020 has seen a huge influx of pod systems being released and sold. It’s no wonder Wotofo wanted a piece of the pie. But is it a case of a little too late? Most other big vape manufacturers have been releasing pod mods for quite some time now. Keep reading to find out how it compares.
Wotofo is a rebuildable DIY company that usually focuses on top shelf RDA’s, RTA’s, and also RDTA’s. Previous bestsellers include the PROFILE RDTA and also innovative Profile 1.5 RDA. They were founded in 2012 and recently joined forces with SMOK. Wotofo regularly consults and collaborates with vaping personalities. This includes Matt from SMM, Mike Vapes, and also Tony B.
The MANIK features a familiar shape, size, and weight to other popular pod mods. It measures 126mm’s by 33mm’s by 27mm’s and weighs 115 grams. The main chassis is made from good quality zinc-alloy and is nano-coated. Wotofo claims this will protect it from wear and corrosion. I tested this out by carrying the MANIK in my pocket with a loose set of keys. Usually, this would result in scratch marks, but the MANIK came out unscathed.
Instead of the usual faux leather, Wotofo has gone with a rubber-like material for the grip. It doesn’t feel or look the best but it does provide a much better grasp. On top, you have a non-removable drip tip and top fill system. This is convenient because you don’t have to remove the cartridge. It can though be tricky to fill with larger bottles. On the bottom, is a hinged battery door. It’s relatively sturdy compared to others I’ve tested out previously.
The Wotofo MANIK Pod Mod contains the powerful nexCHIP chipset. It can output 5 to 80 watts and also fires within 0.001 seconds. This is super impressive! The single firing button on the front face is slightly curved. It boasts a good size and position on the device. A 0.96″ inch color display screen is just below it. Unfortunately, the screen isn’t super bright and it was hard to read in direct sunlight.
The MANIK Pod Mod cartridge can hold 4.5ml of eliquid and is compatible with a wide variety of coils. This includes Vaporesso GTX and VOOPOO PnP coil varieties. Everything is press fit and fairly airtight. I did experience some very occasional leaking. This didn’t matter though because the secure cartridge connection is waterproof! The flavor I got from the included Wotofo D coils was fantastic.
The Wotofo MANIK 80W Pod Mod is currently available to buy right now. You can pick yours up from the official Wotofo website for $34.95 USD. I think that’s a fair asking price considering the quality and overall good performance. The real question is, should you go out and buy one? If you already own a pod mod I’d say no. The MANIK doesn’t really bring anything new to the table. In saying that, if you’re on the market for a pod mod, I’d recommend checking it out.
The Wotofo MANIK 80W Pod Mod comes in a variety of different grip and finish colors. This includes nano gunmetal, nano chrome, nano black, and also prism Gunmetal. I wasn’t totally sold on the designs. They felt a little plain and also featured too much branding. The packaging on the other hand looked modern. It was tougher than usual to open because the plastic sleeve just didn’t want to let go of the cardboard box. Inside you’ll find your MANIK Pod Mod, cartridge, 2 x coils, MicroUSB charging cable, and also a manual.
